All StarZ Staffing is hiring a Yard Master for an immediate opening with a logistics company in Tacoma, WA. We’re looking for someone with a strong background in storage facility operations for this Temp to Hire opportunity.
Pay for the Yard Master:
- $30 – $35 per hour

Schedule for the Yard Master:
- Monday – Friday
- Day shift
- Temp to Hire
Yard Master Duties:
- Ensure required equipment is available for scheduled yard operations
- Optimize resource utilization, including equipment and staff uptime
- Meet economic performance indicators, and ensure trucks are turned around in a reasonable timeframe
- Plan, design, and implement yard arrangements
- Enforce productivity levels by working with truck drivers and customers, making multiple rounds within the storage facility, and a follow up assessment prior to shift end
- Complete reports and forms such as yard inventories and safety summaries
- Investigate and report damages and liabilities
- Serve as a key coordinator between all parties, truck operators, customers, and coworkers
- Maintain a safe and efficient work environment
- Maintain a drug and alcohol-free work environment.
- Maintain a work environment free from hostility and discrimination
- Ensure appropriate PPE is distributed and worn at all times
Yard Master Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent experience working in management
- Must have valid Driver’s License
- Extensive heavy yard machinery operating knowledge
- Thorough knowledge of principles of storage facility operations
- Experience with computerized operating systems
- Able to communicate effectively with truck drivers, management, and other staff
- Knowledge of safety and accident prevention codes and regulations
- Must be able to observe all safety and health requirements for storage facility environment
- Must be able to maintain regular attendance
