All StarZ Staffing is hiring a Water Systems Technician for an immediate opening with a water utility company in Camano Island, WA (near Lost Lake). We’re looking for someone with utility maintenance and repair experience to oversee the daily operations, maintenance, and customer service for a local water system. This is a full-time, temp-to-hire opportunity offering long-term career growth.

 

Pay for the Water Systems Technician:

  • $28 per hour

 

Job Location:

  • Camano, WA, near Lost Lake and Cama Beach Historical State Park
  • Bus line accessible: The job site is just a 1-minute walk from the West Camano Shuttle / Island Transit stop 1C
  • Conveniently located near CamOcean Coffee Co

 

Schedule for the Water Systems Technician:

  • Monday – Friday
  • Day shift
  • Bi-weekly on-call rotation (with support during training)

Water Systems Technician Duties:

  • System Monitoring & Reporting: Read and record water meter data, inspect system areas for issues, and report findings to management
  • Water Quality Maintenance: Conduct daily chlorine sampling and perform regular water main flushing
  • System Installation & Repair: Locate mains and services. Learn to install new connections, tap water mains, and repair the water distribution system. Learn to troubleshoot treatment plant issues and install backflow prevention devices
  • Facility & Equipment Upkeep: Prepare and maintain well houses. Keep the treatment plant and its grounds clean. Maintain the shop and ensure the work truck is stocked and ready. Handle waste disposal
  • Chlorination System Management: Learn to adjust chlorine analyzers. Maintain chlorine injection systems and perform preventive maintenance on pumps (chlorinators, transfer, trash, pressure)
  • Infrastructure Maintenance: Repair leaks and maintain equipment, supplies, buildings, grounds, wells, valves, hydrants, and meters. Conduct regular valve and hydrant maintenance
  • Customer Service: Interact with customers regarding leaks, service locates, and health concerns. Respond to questions and keep residents informed about system work
  • On-Call Rotation: Participate in a bi-weekly on-call rotation, with initial support during training, transitioning to independent response as skills grow.
  • Safety Adherence: Adhere to safe work practices and job safety standards.

 

Water Systems Technician Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience: High School Diploma or GED. At least 1 year of hands-on experience in an active, hands-on role, ideally within utility maintenance or repair. Prior water system experience is a plus!
  • Tool Proficiency: Proficient in using a variety of common hand and electrical tools for construction/utility work
  • Key Skills: Strong organizational skills and excellent people skills
  • Ongoing Learning: Ability to maintain active status of certifications through continuing education (CEUs).
  • Physical Readiness: Capable of performing a wide range of physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds, working on your feet throughout the day, and demonstrating good hand/eye coordination
  • Licensing: Must have a current Washington State Driver’s License and provide a current Washington State Patrol driving abstract (both required for driving company vehicles)
  • Safety Mindset: A commitment to following company safety policies, including using personal protective equipment (PPE)
