All StarZ Staffing is hiring a Diesel Mechanic (Power Generation Equipment) for an immediate opening at the Bangor Naval Base near Bremerton & Silverdale, WA. We’re looking for a skilled mechanic to perform maintenance, and repairs on power generation equipment. Contribute to important on-base operations and enjoy a unique work environment. This is a full-time, 9–12-month contract opportunity.
Pay for the Diesel Mechanic:
- $35 – $50 per hour
Job Location:
- Bangor Naval Base near Bremerton & Silverdale, WA, with easy access to SR 3
- Bus line accessible: Kitsap Transit provides service directly to Naval Base Kitsap – Bangor
- Enjoy on-base convenience with restaurants and a mini-mart available.
Schedule for the Diesel Mechanic:
- Monday – Friday
- Day Shift

Diesel Mechanic Duties:
- Maintain and repair stationary and mobile power generation equipment and supporting systems.
- Inspect and service fuel, coolant, air, hydraulic, and lubrication systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical controls, including motor control centers, transfer switches, and battery chargers.
- Use diagnostic tools such as torque wrenches, multimeters, compression gauges, and calipers to evaluate and test equipment.
- Overhaul and repair engines, compressors, starters, batteries, and other components using heavy tools and lifting equipment.
- Follow lockout/tagout procedures to ensure safe maintenance practices.
- Operate emergency generators during routine testing and actual emergencies; record and evaluate system performance data.
Diesel Mechanic Qualifications:
- Minimum of four years’ experience as a heavy diesel power generation mechanic, including mechanical and equipment repair.
- Completion of a four-year technical training program or recognized apprenticeship. One year of hands-on experience may substitute for one year of formal training, with at least two years at an apprentice level.
- Detailed working knowledge of diesel engines associated with generator systems of 500 horsepower or larger.
- Must have and maintain required hand tools and know how to use specialized tools for repair functions.
- Strong ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
- Ability to meet and maintain company physical and security requirements, including clearance eligibility when required.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a service team environment.
- Valid state driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- S. citizenship required.
