Crane Mechanic at Bangor Base (near Bremerton, WA)

All StarZ Staffing is hiring a Crane Mechanic for an immediate opening at the Bangor Naval Base near Bremerton & Silverdale, WA. We’re looking for someone with journey-level crane repair experience to perform critical maintenance and repair on various cranes. Contribute your expertise to essential Navy operations at this vital base. This is a full-time, 9–12-month contract opportunity.

 

Pay for the Crane Mechanic:

  • $35+ per hour, depending on experience

 

Job Location:

  • Bangor Naval Base near Bremerton & Silverdale, WA, with easy access to SR 3
  • Bus line accessible: Kitsap Transit provides service directly to Naval Base Kitsap – Bangor
  • Enjoy on-base convenience with restaurants and a mini-mart available

 

Schedule for the Crane Mechanic:

  • Monday – Friday
  • Day shift

Crane Mechanic Duties:

  • Perform Crane Maintenance: Execute journey-level maintenance on cranes and other Weight Handling Equipment (WHE) following specifications and manuals
  • Diagnose & Repair: Troubleshoot, dismantle, repair, and replace defective parts using a range of hand and power tools
  • Inspect & Adjust: Carefully inspect components for imperfections, verify dimensional integrity, and adjust functional parts with precision instruments
  • Install & Fabricate: Install special functional/structural parts and fabricate new components as needed
  • Test & Verify: Start devices to test performance and ensure proper function
  • Maintain Systems: Lubricate, clean, and repair electro-mechanical equipment as required
  • Support Base Operations: Perform other related duties as assigned to support base maintenance efforts

 

Crane Mechanic Qualifications:

  • Experienced Crane Mechanic: Minimum 4 years of journey-level experience in crane maintenance and repair, including air, manual, electric overhead, and dockside portals up to 120 tons
  • Electrical/Electronic Systems Expertise: 4+ years of experience in fabrication or maintenance of mobile crane electrical and electronic systems
  • Certifications & Licensing: Ability to obtain thorough knowledge of U.S. Navy Personnel Qualification Program (PQP) tasks for Crane Maintenance Mechanic (within 6 months) and a NAVFAC P-307 crane operator license (within 1 year)
  • Troubleshooting & Technical Skills: Strong ability to troubleshoot equipment; knowledge and use of specialized tools for repair functions
  • Physical & Work Environment: Comfortable climbing ladders and performing work at various heights; willingness to work odd shifts and overtime
  • Tools: Must possess and maintain standard hand tools of the trade
  • Driving: Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Security Clearance: Ability to pass a thorough background check to obtain and maintain required security clearance for base access
  • Communication: Strong communication skills for a service team environment
  • U.S. Citizenship: Required for federal contract and base access
